Beeswax Facts

Honey Bee By manufacturing 100% beeswax candles we help keep beekeepers in business. Buying and consuming honey, beeswax candles and products containing the two allows for beekeepers to continue doing their ever important job of keeping our honey bees alive and pollinating. Did you know that honeybees pollinate 85% of our fruit and vegetable crops in the US? Think about that for a moment. U.S. agriculture as we know it-the vast, tightly sown acres of fruit and grain that feed our masses would not function without the tiny honeybee…bees are worth about $14 billion to our agricultural economy. The impact isn’t just in spoonfuls of honey and pure beeswax candles. It’s every California almond, Louisiana watermelon, Florida grapefruit, Maine blueberry, and Washington State pear you’ve ever bitten into. Bees pollinate virtually every commercial crop in the land. *

Why you can feel good about giving beeswax to your family, your friends & yourself. Beeswax: Sweet smelling, non toxic and long-buring, beeswax is the only choice to burn in your home. (did we mention that it is dripless.)

Green: Beeswax is completely renewable and by burning our candles you are supporting the many beekeepers who help keep the bees busy and healthy.

Clean: When you burn this candles, rest-assured that it is completely non-sooting and won’t turn your ceilings black(or your lungs.) Negative ions and a sweet honey scent are all that is released and that is a positive as it helps purify the air we breathe.

Beautiful: If this candle is a gift, know that it was handmade with superior quality in Vermont and helps us continue the amazing cycle from bee to burn.

Frequently asked questions about our candles:

Q:  Are they scented?

A:  Yes, beeswax candles are scented naturally by the honeybees in their honey collecting process.  Simply stated, they smell like honey.

Q:  Why does beeswax cost more?

A:  A beehive only produces about 12 pounds of beeswax a year and bees have to travel to 10 million flowers to make one pound of beeswax.

Q:  How do they burn?

A: Beeswax is long burning and clean.  When it burns it emits negative ions into the air we breathe, helping to purify.  Most candles are made of paraffin which is a petroleum byproduct and has the attributes of burning any petroleum product.  They are generally scented with synthetics and turn your ceilings and your lungs black.  (We like to say that it’s like letting a car idle in your living room.)
